This 8-week program is designed for advanced swimmers who may or may not be getting ready for a triathlon event. This program can be used as the swimming portion of a multisport program or independently as a swim only program. This program will require approximately 5-8 hours per week and can easily be integrated with a Volt strength-training plan (available to B78 Endurance Hub members) and any other bike/run programs from the B78 Endurance Hub library or elsewhere. There will be 4-5 swim workouts per week. Throughout this program you may find terms that you are not familiar with. If this is the case please refer to the ‘Swim Lingo’ and/or Appendix document available at the B78 Endurance Hub programs section. We wish you the best of luck with your training.
Athletes taking part in this program should be experienced swimmers with two or more years of swim training under their belts. If you are starting back up after taking a break from swimming please consider doing the 3- week maintenance/off season program first.
Programs to follow this one
After this program, consider using one of the programs that will specifically prepare you for a short or long distance triathlon event if you are taking part in triathlon events. Alternately you can choose the 2- week swim taper program if you are competing.
Other things you should know
Equipment such as fins, pull buoys, and snorkels etc. can be used when directed. The indicated duration of the swim sessions is an approximation only. Please use the set distances as your goal. These swimming workouts have been designed for a 25m pool.
